The Good Times Community Theatre League will be hosting auditions for Fiddler on the Roof June 18, 2012.
Fiddler on the Roof is the story of life in the small village of Anatevka—particularly of the Jewish families living there. At the center of the story is Tevye, the local dairyman, his wife, Golda, and their five daughters who struggle to hold onto their traditions in the face of changing world values and ever-growing anti-Semitism.
The show calls for a large cast with many roles for all ages. The main family has five daughters ranging in age from 5 to 20. There are three male roles for actors between 15 and 30 who will play opposite the three oldest daughters. With a number of feature roles for a variety of ages, this show is sure to be great for the entire family to audition!
Auditions will be held at the Poteau High School Choir Room at 6:30 pm. Individuals will sign in as soon as they get to the choir room and will be seen on a “first come” basis. The audition will consist of a brief reading and singing a section from the show’s score. The music will be taught to the whole group between 6:30 and 6:45 pm. Small group auditions will begin immediately following the brief teaching session. Anyone interested in being only in the chorus will only be required to sing/read with the group. Individuals who would like to audition for a main character are asked to prepare a brief vocal audition consisting of 16 measures from a song of your choosing. Please do not exceed 16 measures.
Production dates are set for July 26 through July 29, 2012.
