The LeFlore County Bass Club had its eighth, and final, tournament of the 2012 circuit Sunday at Applegate Cove on Robert S. Kerr Reservoir. There were 50 anglers in 27 boats who caught 83 fish weighing a collective 189.41 pounds. The average fish weighed 2.28 pounds, and 12 limits were caught.
Besting the field was the duo of Robbie “Bokoshe” Brassfield and Keith “Stone” Jones, whose winning stringer weighed 14.94 pounds to earn them $625.
Danny “The Doctor of” Love and Melvin “Cuz” McKay were second (14.32 pounds, $375), while Eric “Sergeant Hulka” Fairless and “Smilin'” Ray Fairless were third (12.36, $250).
Yours truly got the big bass winner, weighing 4.5 pounds, earning me $250.
Rounding out the top 10 were Doug Rodgers and Nick Cox (11.96 pounds), followed by Andy Nance and Rodney Faulkenberry (11.43), Dwayne and Ivan Williams (11.28), Paul Spangler and Clyde Naylor (10.97), Tony Parker and Joey Chitwood (10.52), Gary Steelman and Keith Griffith (10.17) and Daniel Decker and Terry Lee (10.04).
The Club will have its last open tournament on July 14 at Ward's Landing on Wister Lake. The event will begin at 5:30 a.m./safe light and end at 2 p.m. The entry fee is $40 per angler, and no dead fish.
The Club's class meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at LaHuerta's Mexican Restaurant.
The 2012 LeFlore County Bass Club's Classic Tournament will take place Oct. 6-7 at Grasshopper Landing on Broken Bow Lake.
