PRESTON — The Spiro Reds OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team suffered its first loss in the 2012 OK Kids Regional Tournament, falling 12-5 to the Tecumseh Blackhawks Tuesday night.
The Reds will play an elimination game at 8 p.m. tonight against the winner of today's Checotah Cowboys-Prague Rebels game in the loser's-bracket quarterfinals. Tonight's 8 p.m. winner will then play in the loser's-bracket semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with that victor making it to the loser's-bracket final at 8 p.m. Friday with the hopes of advancing to the 5 p.m. Saturday title game.
The Blackhawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead after an inning, but the Reds rallied with a two-run second inning to cut the deficit to 6-2.
With runners at second and third in the bottom of the inning, Tecumseh tried to respond, but a Spiro pitcher Bryce Williams snared the shot, and threw the batter out at first base to end the threat.
The Reds scored three more runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 6-5, but got no closer.
