I hope you all had a great Fourth of July. We went to the “Boom in the Valley” fireworks display at the Talihina Hospital, which was put on by the Choctaw Nation Tuesday night. It was a great show, and we didn't get home until 11:30 p.m. — that's way past my bedtime!
The next morning, we were up early because we rode in the Wister Fourth of July Parade in the Smith Chevrolet truck, throwing candy with Brittany “Happy” Frazier and A.J. McDaniel. We had a blast, and I swear I knew everybody there!
After the parade, we went to “Haw Creek Marina,” which is on Sadie and Joe Gregory's farm, and we did some fishing, four-wheeling and feeding goats — honest, no “kid-ding!" I love it there, and Sadie and Joe have three different gardens.
We finally got back to Poteau at 6 p.m. that night. Then, we went to Shogun's Japanese Restaurant to try out its hibachi grill. The chef had flames and spatulas flying everywhere — it was really different. The food was good, and the chef made it really fun.
Now, I know what you're thinking — it was the Fourth of July, and I wasn't at the lake! We were so busy on the Fourth of July, but I'll be on lake this Saturday at Broken Cove on Lake Eufaula. We really like all the sandy beaches because it's like a big playground.
Save the world, recycle.
God bless our troops and our veterans.
Have a great weekend.
