Wilma “Faye” Humphries, 80, of Poteau stepped into the light Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Faye was born July 9, 1932, in Howe to William V. and Sarah Lula (Dodd) Ritter. She began her education at the No. 10 Community school, now rebuilt into the home of her sister, Jeanne Hill, and family. On July 23, 1955, she married Everett Ray Humphries. She became a homemaker raising three children.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Ray Humphries; brothers and sisters, Frank Ritter, William Z. “Short” Ritter, Raymond L. “Cobe” Ritter, William C. “Bill” Ritter, Viola Ritter, Sovola “Sis” Wise, Willard T. “Big Boy” Ritter and Otis Cleo Ritter. She was a beloved mother and loved by countless other relatives and friends. Her greatest gifts were raising her family to love the Lord and keeping family values alive for caring and helping each other. Also no one could beat her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She tried to love everyone and help everyone without judgment of circumstance. Her presence will be greatly missed by those she loved.
Survivors include her three sons, Steve Ray Humphries, Jesse Lynn Humphries, Richard Roland Humphries; sisters, Marcella Waymire and Jeanne Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore. Pallbearers will be Ronald Humphries, Donnie Harber, Dewayne Morrison, Cornel Reece, Jerry Humphries and Mark McMillin.
