After a great year, Bob Denton and Jason Roberts won the 2012 LeFlore County Bass Club's Team of the Year Award. They beat out 34 other teams, and it's a great accomplishment — considering the quality of anglers the club has had over the past few years.
Denton and Roberts hauled in 76.08 pounds of bass this season to earn $500. Andy Nance and Rodney Faulkenberry were second (68.77 pounds, $400), followed by Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman (68.66, $300), Robbie Brassfield and Keith Jones (65.29, $200) and Joey Chitwood and Tony Parker (63.84, $100).
Faulkenberry had the 2012 Big Bass of the Year, a 8.81-pounder he caught May 20 at Potato Hills South on Sardis Lake. The catch earned him $650.
Once again, this is always my busiest time of the year, with fishing and football games.
However, I will be at Broken Bow Lake next weekend for the LeFlore County Bass Club's 2012 Classic, so I won't have a column next week.
But have no fear, I'll be back in two weeks (Oct. 12), with a column filled with the lowdown on this year's event as well as photographs.
Go Pirates, beat Stilwell.
Go Bandit League teams, beat Union Christian Academy, Ark.
Go Pokes, beat Texas.
Save the world — recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.
