If ever there was a golden opportunity to get a victory during this 2012 football season, Friday night may be the night for the Panama Razorbacks.
The Hogs (0-5, 0-2 in District 2A-6) will travel to meet the Antlers Bearcats (0-5, 0-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
“We don't want to overlook things, but we like our chances as compared to other weeks,” said Brandon Ellis, Panama's second-year coach. “It's a winnable game for us, if we do things right.”
The Razorbacks are coming off a rough road game last Friday night, a 41-7 loss to the Hartshorne Miners. This week's game provides a great way to forget about the setback.
“We want to forget all about the Hartshorne game,” Ellis said. “We have to focus on the task at hand, which this week is Antlers. We've had a great week of practice so far. The kids are enthused, and they haven't lost their confidence. Their confidence is still there. That's the key.”
The Bearcats have had a rough first half of the season. They have been shutout twice (41-0 to Talihina in Week 2 and 42-0 two weeks ago in the District 2A-6 opener to Hartshorne). They lost last week 62-3 to Class 2A's second-ranked Vian Wolverines. They have been outscored 245-38 in their five games this season.
