The Spiro High School basketball teams did not have much of a rest after tonight's season openers at Eufaula as they will begin their three-day stay at the H.B. Stewart Classic in Greenwood, Ark., Wednesday afternoon.
Spiro will play Siloam Springs, Ark., at 4 (girls) and 5:30 p.m. (boys) Wednesday afternoon, then play host Greenwood at 7 (girls) and 8:30 p.m. (boys) Thursday night. The Lady Bulldogs will end their three-day stay with a 4 p.m. Friday game against Ozark, Ark., followed by the ‘Dogs' contest against Ozark at 5:30 p.m.
Former Panama boys basketball coach Greg Nichols, who is now an assistant basketball coach at Greenwood, said the games were moved up a day to accommodate Ozark's state title football game Saturday night. The three-day event was to have started Thursday afternoon, but will begin Wednesday afternoon instead.
