PANAMA — The weather had a little effect on the 2012 Panama Holiday Festival as the basketball teams from Acorn, Ark., could not make it up on Friday due to threatening weather conditions.
So, the two LeFlore County teams in the event, host Panama and Spiro, ended up playing each other on Friday.
The Bulldogs handled the Razorbacks 84-58, while the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady ’Backs 51-28.
On Saturday, Spiro's teams each beat Acorn, with the boys winning 85-40 and the girls posting a 56-41 victory.
However, there was one problem the two-day festival could not overcome, the fact that Haileyville's girls did not have enough players for Haileyville coach, and former local resident, Jody Hull to field a team for a game on each day.
So, the Panama girls split into two teams — Panama Red and Panama White. Not wanting to make anyone unhappy, the two Panama teams played to a 37-37 tie on Saturday.
The two-day event ended with the Hogs handling Hull's Haileyville Warriors 68-58.
