Lorene “Rene” Jones was born March 10, 1923, in Glendale in LeFlore County. She passed away peacefully with family at her side Dec. 25, 2012, in Gridley, Calif.
Lorene was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was known for her homemade buttermilk biscuits with white and chocolate gravy. She was an avid gardener who loved canning her homegrown fruits and vegetables. She was a gifted quilter and made beautiful quilts for all her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Jones; daughters, Shirley Higgins and Sue Ramondo; and granddaughter, Suzanne Beach; parents, James “Doc” and Alice Luman; brothers, Harlen Luman, Haskel Luman, Hershel Luman and Cleo Luman; and sisters, Elise Heflen, Odean Pilgrim and Jewel Earls.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Robertson of Gridley, with whom she resided for the past several years; her son, Jimmy Jones of Peshastin, Wash.; daughter, Doris Mann, of Springville, Calif; and son, Ray Jones of Sebastopol, Calif. In addition to her children, she is survived by eight grandchildren, and several great- and great-great-grandchildren, and brothers, Harril Luman, Theo “Pat” Luman, and Dale Luman of Wister.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, in Gilliam Cemetery, Graton, Calif.
