My dad, Jack Langdell, and I have never been to a college football game, much less two bowl games in a 24-hour period. Amazing, exciting, overwhelming, just WOW! That's the only way I know to describe our adventure.
We left Poteau around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, excited and ready to enjoy our four days on the road.
The trip to West Memphis, Ark., where we were staying, seemed to fly by. We arrived at the hotel around 2:30 p.m, got checked in, freshened up some and headed across the Mississippi River bridge to Memphis, Tenn.
Our itinerary for the afternoon was to visit Sun Studios, the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, and Beale Street. Memphis is a big city, and let's just say we perfected the skill of missing turns and taking the long route.
We arrived about 4:10 p.m. at Sun Studios, where we took the 45-minute tour. We saw a huge part of music history, from the old recording devices, instruments, outfits, Elvis Presley's yearbook and high school band program and many other items.
