The third annual He-Man Women Haters Club’s Polar Bear Tournament took place Saturday at Grasshopper Landing on Broken Bow Lake.
Jason Wickware and Chad Warner claimed the top prize with 18.48 pounds of fish to earn $180.
An Idabel duo came in second — Brandon Scarborough and Brian Robinette — with a stringer weighing 16.52 pounds.
Mike Scarborough and John Jobe were third (12.71 pounds), followed by Mike Sockey, Ed Sockey, Jeff Roberts and yours truly in fourth (11.72) and Andy Nance and Judd Wann were fifth (11.23).
We at at The Grateful Head Pizza Oven and Tap Room in Hochatown every day, and had some of the best pizza on the planet — with hot wings for dessert, and watched football non-stop. Of course, for me non-stop is up to 8:45 p.m. these days!
We also toured the Girls Gone Wine Winery in Broken Bow. Mike Sockey, the hopeless romantic among us and the fine wine expert, wanted to go into the winery, but it looked too “girly” for me. However, we went inside anyway, and made friends with one of the owners, Michelle, and got a private tour where they make all the wines, and had a tasting — which is free. It was really neat, and a lot of fun.
Girls Gone Wine sold 55,000 bottles of wine last year. Check it out the next time you’re in the area because it’s really good!
