CASC teams split with Connors

Jamal Allston hit a basket as the buzzer sounded giving the Carl Albert State College Vikings a thrilling 57-55 win over the Connors State College Cowboys in the second game of Thursday night's Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse for their first conference victory.
Despite getting 18 points each from Shelby Trozzi and Whitney Barnes, it wasn't enough for the Lady Vikings as their late rally came up short in their 68-64 loss to the Cowgirls.

Leflore teams split with Panola on Senior Night

LEFLORE — The Leflore High School basketball teams split their Senior Night basketball games with Panola Thursday night at the Leflore Gym.
The Savages defeated the Bearcats 73-55, but the Lady Bearcats took the opener 69-38 over the Lady Savages.

Arkoma teams suffer losses at Keota Thursday night

KEOTA — It was a rough night, literally, of basketball for the Arkoma High School teams.
The Lady Mustangs lost 51-46 to the Lady Lions in a game which was rather physical according to Arkoma Girls Coach Connie Ray. Then, the Mustangs suffered a 52-42 setback at the hands of the Lions.

Poteau assistant baseball coach honored

Poteau Pirates baseball team Assistant Coach Andy Perdue was named the Region 6 Assistant Baseball Coach of the Year at the Winter Baseball Clinic Hall of Fame Banquet Jan. 28 in Oklahoma City.
Perdue was nominated by Poteau Baseball Coach Ronnie Sockey for the many long hours put in at the new hitting facility, and the job he does to keep the high level of baseball up for the Pirates.
This is the second time Perdue has won the award. He won it in 2006.
