Local football trio, Talihina coach participate Friday night in All-State Game

August 4, 2015

The East team lost Friday’s night’s All-State football game to the West, but that didn’t seem to matter to standouts from Poteau and Talihina, who played in the game at Union-Tuttle Stadium in Tulsa.
Neither did it to Kelly Gravitt, the Talihina coach, who coached the squad in its 27-14 loss.
Gravitt got to have a bonus as two of his players starred in the game. Quarterback Alan Lockhart and defensive end Tucker Trowbridge impacted the game with some big plays.
Poteau lineman Mark Garner also just happened to be playing on the line each time the East got a touchdown.

Playing in All-State Game nice way to cap high school career for Whitesboro Bulldog basketballer

July 31, 2015

Whitesboro’s Blake Blagg-Tidwell recalls how hard it was to come up a game short of a Class B State Tournament appearance — not just oncee, but two consecutive years.
Blagg-Tidwell played as a member of the Small East team in Thursday night’s Small-School All-State Boys Basketball Game at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center in Tulsa. He contributed with a rebound in the East’s 70-68 loss to the West.
Making All-State and having the opportunity to play in the game was a nice consolation for Blagg-Tidwell.

Red Oak basketball player proud of her defense in Small East’s rout of Small West in All-State Game

July 30, 2015

The player who scores the most points is usually the one that gets the most attention in basketball, but that’s not important to Red Oak’s Paige Campagna.
Campagna played in the All-State Small-School Girls Basketball Game Wednesday night at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center in Tulsa. Defense is what matters most to her.
Campagna did not score but impacted the defense, making two steals, two assists and grabbing a rebound for the Small East in its 80-50 rout of the Small West.
