Arkoma looks to get back into district race, entertains Sasakwa

It was a heartbreaking Friday night for the Arkoma Mustangs. It looked like they were going to leave Maud with a 42-35 road victory, only to see an interception returned for a touchdown in the final minute doom the Mustangs 43-42.“It's a little rough,” Arkoma coach Mark Weatherton said. “They're down about that, and I want them to be down a little bit about that. They know that the district is tough, and Maud can slip on and beat you. When you lose one the way we did last week, it seems like it's a long way to Friday. To be in the position where we want to be, we have to take care of the rest of the games. We have to be ready to play this week.”The Mustangs (1-2 overall, 1-1 in District C-4 play) will look to rebound at 7:30 p.m. this Friday in a home game against the Sasakwa Vikings (2-1, 2-0) at Mustang Field.• • •District C-4 StandingsTeam District Overall +/-Sasakwa 2-0 2-1 +19Maud 2-0 3-0 +16Webbers Falls 1-0 2-1 15Arkoma 1-1 1-2 +14Thackerville 0-0 2-0 0SW Covenant 0-1 1-2 -4Bokoshe 0-2 0-3 -30Midway 0-2 0-3 -30
