Barbara Valentine Montgomery, 43, of Red Oak passed away Friday, April 11, 2014. Barbara was born July 20, 1970, in Denver City, Texas, to Johnny R. and Connie J. (Burdick) Byrd.Robert Joe Montgomery, 54, of Red Oak passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014. Robert was born Aug. 31, 1959, in Wilburton to Francis M. and Billie (Revis) Montgomery. Barbara was a homemaker; an amazing cook; loved doing crafts with her grandkids and loved yard selling. Robert worked for Latimer County as a backhoe operator. They were faithful members of the First Baptist Church in Red Oak. Robert had a huge heart — loved to help folks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being a family man. He was a devoted member of his Sunday School class. Both Barbara and Robert loved their grandchildren very much. Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Marie Hice and Jeannie Lee Byrd. Robert was preceded by his parents; brother, Larry Montgomery; and sister, Tincy Larive.Survivors include their children, Levi and Amanda Montgomery of Bokoshe, Nicole and Gordon Chronister of Stilwell, Connie Garcia of Stigler, Robbie Montgomery of Red Oak, Dillion Humphrey, Maranda Byrd, Samantha Holbert, Carolyn Aaron, Carlos Humphrey; five grandchildren, Jaston and Adrianna Chronister, Hazel Montgomery, Devon Aaron and Jasmin Holbert; Robert’s brothers, Marvin “Mick,” Johnny, Ellis, David, Kenneth and Keith Montgomery; sisters, Shirley Bowen, Paula Aaron, Gloria Richie, Judie Hilburn, Susanne Free; Barbara’s mother and stepfather, Eugene and Connie Gott of Spiro; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, at First Baptist Church in Red Oak with the Rev. Johnny Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in North Rock Creek Cemetery, Red Oak. Pallbearers will be Jack Larson, John Larson, Dillion Humphrey, Carlos Humphrey, Mike Brannon, Howard Blankenship, Cole Bryce, John Allan Melton, Paul Muncy, Ronald Aaron, Brian Montgomery and Roy Alford. The family will visit with relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
