Dalton, Walls capture LeFlore County Bass Club tournament on Wister

The LeFlore County Bass Club had its seventh tournament of the 2012 circuit Sunday afternoon at Ward's Landing on Lake Wister. There were 28 boats with 52 anglers who caught 98 fish weighing a collective 212.39 pounds. The average fish caught weighed 2.17 pounds, and there were 14 limits caught.Besting the field was the duo of Wade “FLW” Dalton and Josh “Stickers” Walls, who caught 13.58 pounds of fish to collect $650.Keith “Big Perm” Griffith and Gary “Egghead” Steelman were runners-up (12.86 pounds, $390), while Jason “Glitter” Wickware was third all by his lonesome (12.71, $260). Dennis “Red” Roper had the tournament's big bass winner, weighing 4.41 pounds to earn $260.Rounding out the Top 10 were Joey Chitwood and Tony Parker in fourth place (12.5 pounds), followed by Joe White and Chad Ritter (11.96), Jerrid Keller and Austin Shrock (11.88), Randy Martin and Bucky McGee (11.21), Mackey and Wes Baker (10.63), Bob Denton and Jason Roberts (10.56) and Eric and Ray Fairless (10.35).I really like to visit with all the guys after the tournament and listen to all the fish stories. I usually have the same story — losing the big one! However, what I really look forward to is having my partner Bruce Vincent's fried bologna sandwiches he makes for us for every tournament. There's hardly nothing better than Vincent's fried bologna sandwiches — well, maybe a big ol' Arlie burger with melted, hot pepperjack cheese on top. After working so hard fishing, those fried bologna sandwiches just hit the right spot. Bruce then backs it up with a Little Debbie Nutty Buddy that he keeps cold in the ice chest — yummy! The Club's next tournament of the 2012 circuit will take place June 24 at Applegate Cove on Robert S. Kerr Reservoir. This will be the last one of season. The Club's last open tournament will take place July 14 on Wister Lake. The pure Floridas will grow at a rapid rate, reaching 14 inches in just three years, and eight to 10 years to reach 10 pounds.”The last time Wister was stocked was in 2004. Who knows Lake Wister could produce the next state record? The lake is full of gizzard and threadfin shad, so the bass should have a buffet to help them grow to trophy size.Save the world — recycle.God bless our troops and veterans.Have a great weekend.— — —Any questions or pictures, make contact with Jody Ray Adams on Facebook, on the “Jody Ray Fishing Hotline” at (918) 649-7387 or email to jodyray@classicnet.net.Editor's Note — Outdoor columnist Mark Goines contributed to this column.
