Diamond dolls, guys back in action for fall season — UPDATED SCHEDULE

While summer will not end until next month, for all intents and purposes it really has — at least for me.The 2013 fall high school fast-pitch softball season and baseball season will get under way this week. So, officially my summer ended on Monday when I went up to cover the opening day of the Pocola Invitational — as well as photograph two high school football teams' opening day of practice. All I can say is, “Let the games begin.”Questionnaires, Team Photographs NeededFor coaches who I haven't gotten their questionnaires in person or who have not already sent theirs in, I need you to please do so by the end of the week so I can have preseason information about your team for the 2013 Fall Diamond Tab, which will come out Aug. 24 — and I'll be putting it together next week.I also will need to get team photographs, with identifications from left to right on each row, for the special section. They can be e-mailed to me at sports@poteaudailynews.com.Coverage-Help MethodsI also thought I'd mention how to help get your information to me. I know a lot of coaches use GameChanger, or an equivilent of it, and I can get your information from there. Others will fax me the scoresheets. However, one method which also will work is “The Kim Standridge Method” — which is named for the parent who began the tradition a couple summers ago when the Elite softball team was at the World Series in Kansas City, Kan., to photograph the scorebook sheets — both “our” team and the opposition's — and e-mail them to me at sports@poteeaudailynews.com or even put them on Facebook like a photograph. If it's easier to do a mobile-to-mobile, here are two numbers to use — (918) 721-5261 or (918) 649-3272. Those individuals will also be able to forward your scorebook sheet images to me.Schedule(This does not include the Pocola Invitational, since that bracket ran in Saturday's edition)SoftballTodayPoteau at Pryor, rained out.Heavener and Smithville at Whitesboro, rained outThursdayHowe at Smithville, 4:30 p.m.Battiest at Whitesboro, 5:30 p.m.FridayPoteau at Broken Arrow Tournament: vs. OKC Putnam City North, 10 a.m.; vs. Broken Arrow, 11:30 a.m.; vs. Oologah, 5 p.m.Sallisaw and Battiest at Heavener, 4 p.m. (Sallisaw vs. Heavener, 4 p.m.; Sallisaw vs. Battiest, 5:15 p.m.; Battiest vs. Heavener, 6:30 p.m.)Howe at Hartshorne Festival: vs. Haileyville, 10 a.m.; vs. Quinton, 12:20 p.m.; vs. Hartshorne, 1:30 p.m.)Panama at Beggs Festival: vs. Oktaha, 6 p.m.; vs. Davenport, 7:30 p.m.Whitesboro at Eagletown, 5 p.m.SaturdayPoteau at Broken Arrow Tournament: vs. Sapulpa, 9 a.m.; vs. Sequoyah-Tahlequah, 12:30 p.m.; vs. TBA, 3:30 p.m.Panama at Beggs Festival: vs. Kellyville, 9 a.m.; vs. Checotah, 10:30 a.m.MondayWestville at Poteau, 5 p.m.Howe at Arkoma, 4 p.m.Heavener at Cameron, 4 p.m.Whitesboro at Panama, 5 p.m.Pocola at Muldrow, DH, 4:30 p.m.Wister at Red Oak, 5:30 p.m.BaseballTodayWister at Cameron, rained out.Panola at Leflore, rained out.Howe at McCurtain, rained out.ThursdayCameron, Howe, Whitesboro and Wister at Red Oak Eagle Classic: Buffalo Valley vs. Stuart, 11 a.m.; Cameron vs. Howe, 1:30 p.m.; Wister vs. Crowder, 4 p.m.; Whitesboro vs. Red Oak, 6:30 p.m.Kinta and McCurtain at Leflore, 4 p.m. (Kinta vs. Leflore, 4 p.m.; Kinta vs. McCurtain, 5:30 p.m.; McCurtain vs. Leflore, 7 p.m.FridayCameron, Howe, Whitesboro and Wister at Red Oak Eagle Classic: Whitesboro-Red Oak loser vs. Wister-Crowder loser, 11 a.m.; Cameron-Howe loser vs. Buffalo Valley-Stuart loser, 1:30 p.m.; Cameron-Howe winner vs. Buffalo Valley-Stuart winner, 4 p.m.; Whitesboro-Red Oak winner vs. Wister-Crowder winner, 6:30 p.m.Leflore at Coleman Festival, TBA.SaturdayCameron, Howe, Whitesboro and Wister at Red Oak Eagle Classic: Consolation Championship, 10 a.m.; 3rd-Place Game, 12:30 p.m.; Championship Game, 3 p.m.Leflore at Coleman Festival, TBA.MondayHowe at Wister, DH, 4 p.m.McCurtain at Cameron, DH, 4 p.m.Leflore at Buffalo Valley, 4 p.m.
