Emergency teachers play small role in Poteau

After the Oklahoma teacher walkout in April of 2018 the state experienced a decrease in certified teachers, or teachers willing to work in Oklahoma. With that decrease there have been fewer hiring options in schools around the state, leading many public schools to hire Emergency Certified Teachers, or Alternatively certified teachers.
An emergency teaching certificate is a limited certification that acts as a temporary solution to the growing need for teachers in public schools.
