Football is over now for Sooners

Well, the football season is finally over for the Oklahoma Sooners. Thank goodness they beat a very good Iowa team. One thing that still bothers me is the fact that the Sooners' defense, especially the secondary. runs in cycles. The Sooners are either very good or they are very horrid. It looks more and more like the Secondary Coach Willie Martinez is going to be the sacrificial lamb, but I am beginning to listen to my son, Joey, who has questioned the defensive play calling of Brent Venable for at least five years now.I still think that the television announcers that called the OU game are idiots. Going into Friday night's Cotton Bowl, the Big 12 has only lost one game so far. — — —I told you last week that I thought the Spiro Lady Bulldogs were going to win the 2012 LeFlore County Tournament. Well, I heard that the Howe Lady Lions controlled the Spiro inside tandem very easily at last week's Panama Holiday Festival and won a very tight contest. I am going to stick to my guns that I believe the homecourt advantage will pay dividends for the Lady Bulldogs. However, I am hearing that the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers could be a major influence and could in fact win the entire tournament. Now, let's talk about the boys side. I really believe that it will come down to the two big schools in the County. Spiro and Poteau have already played one game at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, and the Pirates blew the Bulldogs off the court due to several factors. Several of the Spiro players lost their composure and a rash of technical fouls were called, and then the Pirates were extremely hot on offense. The only major player I have not seen on the boys side of the tournament is the Heavener Wolves. I have seen Cameron, Wister and Leflore, and I believe that one or two of these teams could make it to the final four of the tournament. But here is my predictions, I believe that the Pirates and Bulldogs will come down to the final possession of the game, and I believe that the ’Dogs will pull out some of the old Spiro Magic and beat the Pirates by a point in the title game due home-court advantage. As for the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, I believe the best player in the tournament will be Poteau's Kendrick Hardaway, but any of those five Bulldogs could lay claim to the MVP.The Poteau Pirates entertained the Heavener Wolves Friday night for homecoming, and it could be a great game both for the girls and the boys.I believe the Arkoma Mustangs or the Bokoshe Tigers will win the sportsmanship award.
