Gas prices remain low in area

The Oklahoma gas price average plunged 51 cents in 46 days, according to AAA Oklahoma.

Approximately 550,000 Oklahomans are expected to take to the road this Thanksgiving holiday, and drivers should pay the lowest pump prices for Thanksgiving since 2008.

The state's retail average at $1.85 is 51 cents below the price recorded on Oct. 9. AAA said Oklahoma's average is one of the cheapest in all 50 states and at its lowest since hitting $1.79 on Jan. 19.

On a national level, AAA predicts 42 million Americans will take to the highways and enjoy a national average gasoline price of $2.06, which is forecasted to fall below the $2 mark by Christmas.
