(AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson is making a couple of stops in Oklahoma as part of a tour promoting his new book.

The retired neurosurgeon will be at the Mardel Christian bookstore in Edmond on Wednesday signing copies of his book, "A More Perfect Union."

Among the topics Carson discusses at length in the book is gun ownership. In it, he defends the right of Americans to own powerful weaponry such as assault rifles and armor-penetrating ammunition to defend themselves from "an overly aggressive government."

Carson is scheduled to make additional stops Wednesday in Texas and Florida, before returning to Oklahoma Thursday for a book-signing event at a Barnes & Noble in Tulsa.
