LeFlore County EMS will be honored for its support of the National Guard next week.

EMS Shift Supervisor Jeff Steinkamp, a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard, nominated his employers for the Patriot Award.

Raymond Knapp, training director for the Oklahoma State Committee of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, will present the Patriot Award to several members of LeFlore County EMS.

The presentation is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. June 26 at EMS headquarters at 1215 S. Broadway.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve.

When members fulfill their required duties with the National Guard or the Reserve, the effects of their absence go beyond themselves and their immediate families.

The regular full-time employers of those deployed soldiers must account for their absence and motivate the staff left behind to cover duties that would otherwise be left undone.
