Heavener Thunder rout Sallisaw Titans at OK Kids Coach-Pitch State, but Wister, Poteau Pirates rained out

WEATHERFORD — The Heavener Thunder OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team opened the 2012 State Tournament in fine fashion Tuesday afternoon at Rader Park as they routed the Sallisaw Titans 17-4.The Thunder will meet Tuttle at 7:45 p.m. tonight in the winner's-bracket semifinals.However, two other local teams got beat by rain as the Wister Wildcats OK Preps team at Chandler and the Poteau Pirates OK Kids Midget team at Elk City were both rained out on opening day of state on Tuesday.The ’Cats will play the Cushing Tigers at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon in the opening round of the Preps State Tournament in Chandler, while the Pirates will meet the Clinton White at 6 p.m. tonight in an opening-round game at the Midget State Tournament in Elk City.The Midget State Tournament just had all game times and dates moved back a day, meaning the state title game will now be on Sunday.For the Thunder, it did not take them long to take control of the game. They scored six runs in each of the first two innings, then added five more runs in the third.For the game, Bladen Morris was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs scored, Garris Rice was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Brayden Oglesby was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, Garrett Huckaby was 2-for-2 and Jacob Thompson was 1-for-1 for the Thunder.
