Hester waives rights to preliminary hearing

A man accused of possessing child pornography appeared in District Court Thursday morning as proceedings continue.Marty Hester, 52, of Hodgen, appeared before Special Judge Jeff Singer with his defense attorney Rob Cowan present. Hester, who was arrested in October, appeared for his preliminary hearing. After consulting with his attorney, Hester signed a waiver declining his rights to a preliminary hearing and was set for District Court Arraignment on May 30.Hester was arrested after allegeations of attempted sexual assault against two young girls that were visiting his internet cafe business, The Computer Helper, located on S. Witte in Poteau. After an investigation into the allegations, investigators obtained a warrant to seize computers and associated electronic recording devices inside the business. The equipment was analyzed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Computer Crimes Lab and the report revealed over 2,400 images of child pornography and 31 child pornograghy videos. Along with the images and videos, investigators discovered a photo of one of the young girls who had made the allegations on a camera seized from Hester's business. The victim confirmed Hester had taken the photograph and had attempted to photograph the other victim. Hester is being held in the LeFlore County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond awaiting his May appearance in court.
