James Archie “Jim” Miller

James Archie “Jim” Miller, 86, of Poteau died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, in Poteau. He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Carter to Ray and Ida (Hill) Miller. Jim was a World War II veteran of Search and Rescue stationed in Newfoundland, a broiler and cattle farmer for OK Farms and a retired oil field consultant.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ida Miller; brother, Bun Miller; sister, Melba Martin; and wife and loving companion, Mary “Betty” Heavener-Miller.He is survived by four daughters, Carrie Miller of Wister, Ericka Miller Flores of Poteau, Sandra Craine of Springdale, Ark., and Julie Heavener-Banuelos of Poteau; four sons, David Heavener of Spiro, Bobby Heavener of Howe, Rick Miller of Holsom Valley and Randy Miller of Wister; brother, Joel Miller of Marlow; sister, Wilma Smith of Midland, Texas; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous dear friends and relatives including Opal Miller, mother of his daughter, Carrie Miller.Pallbearers will be Salomon Banuelos, Raul Flores, Paul Wood, Bobby Heavener, Bobby Joe Heavener and Rick Miller.Jim Miller will be greatly missed by his family and friends he has left behind.Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Manor Funeral Home.
