My meeting with Howard the Dog Catcher

On Thursday of last week, I left home to attend “Uncle” Don Barnes' funeral service. Howard “Roy D. Mercer” Cagle had a sheet of plywood he was delivering to my shop. Now, here's where things get complicated.A couple of months ago, Randee Hallmark of Poteau Pound Pups showed my family this little puppy on Facebook. They loved him, and went to the pound to pick him up. I took him to Dr. Stokes, and got him his shots and had him wormed. He told me that he would be big and was about 3 months old already. My son, Jacques, named him Jase from the show “Duck Dynasty.” Everybody in our family has his or her name begin with the letter J, so it was a no-brainer to name our new dog, Jase. The dog is about 5 months old now, and weighs 38 pounds. He eats everything and is very playful. He has even eaten one of my posts on our back deck! This dog is going to be the size of a Shetland pony — I just know it! I have to keep the gates closed now since we have a dog (or should I say a small horse!), but I forgot to tell Howard this.Howard opened the gate soon thereafter, and Jase nearly tackled him. While Howard is unloading the plywood, Judy and Jordan Bennetzen are walking baby Noah in his stroller, and Jase wants to play with them — so, he took off after them.Save the world, recycle.God bless our troops and veterans.Have a great weekend.• • •Any questions or pictures, make contact with Jody Ray Adams on Facebook, on the “Jody Ray Fishing Hotline” at (918) 649-7387 or email to
