PFS hosts 'Rooms for Rent'

Tonight will be the final performance of Poteau First Assembly's "Our Family Christmas: Rooms for Rent," an original tragicomedy written especially for the holiday season."Our Family Christmas: Rooms for Rent," is a non-traditional church Christmas play. Although it is set during Christmas and includes a Christmas “message,” the play focuses primarily on modern, “real life” family issues, which include both moments of hilarity and sobering dysfunction. The production is a musical with a live band and singers performing songs about personal struggle as characters seek to resolve their differences and “bridge the gaps” caused by estrangement, divorce, societal pressures and familial conflict. The play's message is one of hope; there are practical and spiritual directives on how to approach personal struggles in our own lives. The play's director, Aaron Williams, said this year's show will be different than past OFC productions. “This year, every show was a little different,” he says. “Sunday and Monday's vocal performances featured differing song selections. Tuesday night's vocal performances will be determined by the votes of Sunday and Monday night attendees.”The performance begins at 7 p.m. at Poteau First Assembly of God. Admission is free and open to the public. For directions or information, call (918) 647-3040.
