Senior linemen want to end home career with quarterfinal win over Clinton Red Tornadoes on Friday

For the 14 senior players, they got to do something Friday night they had probably only dreamed of doing — play in a Class 4A playoff game. They did just that, beating Cleveland 48-7 in the opening round of the playoffs.“It was a great feeling,” senior lineman Stephen Smith said. “We worked really hard for the win. We played to the top of our game. It felt good coming out with a win.”It was also a great feeling just to be in an 11th game, and now what will be a 12th game this Friday night when the Pirates (10-1) entertain the Clinton Red Tornadoes (8-3) in the state quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. at Costner Stadium.“It was crazy,” senior lineman Daylon Brewton said. “We've worked so hard for this. Coach [Greg Werner] has really turned this program around. We're proud of everybody. We're just proud of the whole team.”
