The Spiro Police Department said extra precautions have been taken at Spiro Public Schools after a viral Facebook post threatened a school with the name "SHS."

However, Spiro police said the post originated in Springfield, Ohio, and had gone viral in every state. The department said no positive threat was confirmed for Spiro.

Ohio news agency Dayton Daily News on Thursday said a student had been arrested for making the threat against the Springfield High School and was charged with felony inducing panic. The news agency said the student was identified as a 17-year-old female and the threat deemed a hoax.

The threat sparked worry nationwide for schools staring with "S," prompting districts all across the nation to take extra security measures.

Across the border into Fort Smith, Ark., the Fort Smith Police Department also took extra precautions for Southside High School in Fort Smith.

Concerns regarding school shootings have increased since a Valentine's Day attack at a Florida high school left 17 dead.
