Talihina boys lose title game of CNT to Rattan Rams; Lady Golden Tigers place third; Wister boys win seventh-place game

TALIHINA — The good news was the host Talihina High School basketball teams brought home some hardware from the 2012 Choctaw Nation Tournament, which concluded Saturday night on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium. Unfortunately, neither host team won first place.The Golden Tigers lost 44-39 to the Rattan Rams in Saturday night's championship game after beating the Pocola Indians 59-46 in Friday night's semifinals.The Lady Golden Tigers, after losing a heartbreaking 45-43 in overtime in Friday night's semifinals to Antlers, ended the tournament on a high note as they handled the Lady Rams 46-32 to win Saturday afternoon's third-place game.The Indians lost the third-place game 55-52 to the Sallisaw Central Tigers, but the Wister Wildcats finally got a win in the three-day event, edging Lone Grove 55-53 to win Saturday afternoon's seventh-place game after losing 63-55 Friday afternoon to the Antlers Bearcats in the consolation semifinals.The Lady Indians lost their consolation championship contest 56-44 to the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds on Saturday afternoon after they beat Sallisaw Central 39-33 in Friday morning's consolation semifinal.It was a rough tournament for the Wister Lady Wildcats, who lost their seventh-place game 47-39 to Sallisaw Central on Saturday morning after losing 65-37 to Sallisaw in Friday afternoon's consolation semifinals.
