Team Baker wins open tournament on Wister Lake

The LeFlore County Bass Club had its final open tournament of 2012 Saturday at Ward's Landing on Wister Lake. There were 17 boats with 32 expert anglers who caught 57 bass weighing a collective 143 pounds. The average weight of each fish caught was 2.51 pounds, and there were 10 limits caught.Besting the tournament field was Team Baker, comprised of Mackey “Nitro” and Wes “The Mess” Baker, as the duo caught 16.73 pounds to earn them $400.“Dougie” Doug Camp and Dwight “The Champ” Camp were second (16.06 pounds, $240), while Jason “Glitter” Wickware and Russ “Pop” Warner came in third (15.76, $160).Danny “The Doctor of” Love had the big bass winner, weighing 5.36 pounds to earn $160.“Ribeye” Randy Martin and “Big Stix” Bucky McGee were fourth (15 pounds even), while Love and Melvin “Cuz” McKay placed fifth (13.8).We caught fish all day, even with the hotter temperatures. We just didn't have any big fish. We had our limit, but they were all little fish, but it sure was fun. When you see Eldon Dugan next time, ask him about the seven-pounder he lost on that point by the boat ramp. He was so mad because it was nearing weigh-in time, which was 2 p.m. Saturday. I was even afraid to heckle him about it because I thought he might turn on me like a mother-in-law, and the fight would be on.The BacklashFishing ReportThe LeFlore County Bass Club's 2012 Classic Tournament will be Oct. 6-7 at Firefly Landing on Broken Bow Lake.
